How to reach Florence

Easy to reach by the main European hubs, Florence Amerigo Vespucci International Airport is only 4 km from the city center.

 

Connections from/to City Center

By taxi: flat rate € 20

By shuttle bus: “Vola in bus” shuttle bus operates 7 days a week. The shuttle bus connects the Airport to S. Maria Novella Central Train Station (downtown) in about 20 minutes. Departure from/to the Airport every 30 minutes from 5.00am to 8pm and then every hour until 12.30pm.

 

All the main airlines companies operate flights from/to Florence International Airport:

Amerigo Vespucci International Airport connects Florence to the main European cities (Amsterdam, Barcelona, Brussels, Bucharest, Frankfurt, Geneve, London Gatwick, Madrid, Munich, Paris Charles de Gaulle and Vien) as well as the main Italian cities (Cagliari, Catania, Milan (Malpensa), Olbia, Palermo, Rome (Fiumicino), Torino and Verona.

 

In the next two years Florence International Airport will significantly enlarge: a new terminal, a new cargo area, new aprons will be built. Works shall end within 2017, the year in which the G7 will take place in Florence.

 

Easy access from/to Italy’s main International Airports

Pisa's Galilei Airport is an international airport located about 80 kilometers from Florence. There are direct flights from the most important European and Italian airports. The airport is linked to Florence by rail and road: a direct train service runs from the airport to Florence central railway station (Firenze S.M.N.), and there is also a shuttle bus service operated by TerraVision. The journey time is approximately 70 minutes.

The city of Florence is easily reachable from the Italian major airports as Milan, Bologna and Rome:

BY TRAIN

Florence S. Maria Novella Central Train Station (Firenze S.M.N) perfectly connects Florence to the other Italian regions. Frecciarossa high speed trains allow to reach Naples-Rome-Florence-Bologna and Milan in very little time.
